Q&A: Help me please! Military and college?

Question by boondocks2go: Help me please! Military and college?
So this is my dilemma. I got accepted to university of Texas at Austin, uc irvine, loyola Chicago. I am a resident of Illinois and am very much considering becoming a marine corps reservist. Now i was told that if i were to join the marines and attend school in Illinois that the state would pay for my entire tuition. Now as you can see i got accepted to some nice places and was wondering if californnia and Texas do the same? Since if i were to enlist i would have to defer my acceptance for a year for boot camp. what are the exact educational benefits i can use to my advantage? I want to attend a school as an out of state resident in the reserves. Is there such a thing? Help please

I went to school in Pennsylvania as a resident of Maryland and all that meant was that my Reserve station was closer to school. Bit of a drive if I wasn’t in school at the time, but worth it. Look into the split program if it’s still around – one summer for basic, one summer for MCT/specialty training, depending on MOS.

Which college is better?

Question by Sr. Tamayo: Which college is better?
My cousin is in the process of applying to college, and she wants to narrow it down to 2 or 3. She decided she wants to go to a reputable public school where it is warm for a majority of the year. She has narrowed it down to 3

University of Florida
University of Texas at Austin
Ohio State University

I realize Ohio State isn’t quite in a warm place, but she lives in Ohio so she would get the advantage of in state tuition.

So tell me what you know about these three, which one is better over all and why. UF and UT are both in borderline-southern areas. how southern are these two schools? (We all know OSU isn’t the least bit southern)

Gay college students, I need help, badly…!?!?

Question by Calthopian stuck in Texas (Help): Gay college students, I need help, badly…!?!?
I know it’s a bit early for this, but it’s been eating at me…I’m not sure whether or not I should come out to my roommate…do I owe it to him to be up front about it? Or should I just use my bisexualtiy as an advantage and be straight with him and get with guys when i’m with others? Yes the school i’m going to is in a very gay friendly city (U. Texas-Austin), but seeing as Texas isn’t exactly a gay friendly state, I could end up with anyone…so what do I do and please help me!

Be straight up so there isn’t any problems. Tell him that you’re gay. I just did a roomie search on Ball State University and I made sure that everyone knows that I’m gay so there isn’t any future issues. Also it has helped me made friends actually. It will only work out for the best and make sure he knows that you aren’t interested in him, so he doesn’t flip his sh#t about that too. mmk?

No. Professional schools like educational diversity and with the possible exception of some Ivies, there is no advantage to going to the professional school for the bachelor’s degree. In fact, most students at professional schools obtained the bachelors degrees elsewhere.
